Their defense hasn’t been elite, but they make up for it by forcing teams into uncomfortable, high-paced games where their scoring depth takes over. Liberty, meanwhile, thrives on control. The Flames keep things structured, take high-percentage shots, and rarely beat themselves with turnovers. They’re methodical, disciplined, and usually force opponents to play their game. But last time out, Kennesaw State dictated the pace and ran them out of their comfort zone—hence the 85-80 final. If the Owls do that again, Liberty’s in trouble.
Kennesaw State’s tempo is further fueled by freshman sensation Adrian Wooley, who has been a revelation this season. He’s earned multiple Freshman of the Week honors, averaging 12.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, and shooting an impressive 39% from beyond the arc. His ability to stretch the floor adds a new dimension to the Owls’ fast-paced offense.

A key battleground will be the turnover margin. Kennesaw State has been sharp lately, winning the turnover battle in four of their last five, including a +6 edge against Liberty in that last game. The Flames typically don’t cough it up much, but if Kennesaw’s pressure forces them into uncharacteristic mistakes again, the Owls could start stacking easy buckets in transition. The difference-maker might be Kennesaw State’s ability to withstand Liberty’s early adjustments. The Flames know they lost the pace battle last time. They’ll come in looking to limit transition opportunities, control the glass, and make Kennesaw grind in the half-court. But if the Owls come out fast, set the tempo early, and force Liberty to chase the game again, we might be looking at a repeat result. Liberty is the steadier team on paper, but Kennesaw State has the edge in chaos. And if this turns into another scramble, the Owls should like their chances.
