Let’s breakdown a Wednesday afternoon game in the Big East.

Butler vs. Providence (4:00pm ET)

Let’s start by addressing the elephant in the room — both of these teams are dreadful away from home. That said, I’ll make the argument that Providence is worse. Both squads sit at 2-9 in true road games, but Butler was able to grind out 2-1 on a neutral floor this season, while the Friars went 0-4 in neutral games.

These teams splits their head to head this season, with the home team winning each game, as you’d expect. Butler and Providence limp into the Big East Tournament, but the Friars have been running about as cold as you can get — winners of just one of their last 10 games. The season for Providence has been defined by multiple impact injuries, thrusting some role players into minutes that they just aren’t ready for.

Despite Butler’s disappointing season, the Bulldogs have still generally come through as favorites. They’ve won their last six when favored, and sit 10-3 on the season in that role. Butler has also been tested leading into Big East Tournament play, losing its last four games, but going up against Saint John’s, Villanova, Xavier and Creighton. I’m expecting a more complete team in Butler to come out sharp in this one.

College Basketball Pick: Butler ML (-125) 1-unit
