THE PLAYERS Championship is one of the most iconic events on the PGA TOUR. Here is a good prop bet to make for the event at DraftKings Sportsbook.
This is my favorite Justin Thomas prop bet to consider for THE PLAYERS Championship.
Justin Thomas to Finish in the Top 10 (+210)
Justin Thomas is +2200 to win THE PLAYERS Championship, +400 to finish in the top 5, and +210 to finish in the top 10.
THE PLAYERS Championship is played at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. TPC Sawgrass is a Pete Dye-designed par 72 golf course and ranges 7,352 yards. This is the PGA TOUR’s signature event and features a full field of 144 players. There is a standard 36-hole cut with the top-65 and ties making the weekend. The greens are Bermudagrass and the course requires precision on nearly every shot. Scottie Scheffler has won back-to-back PLAYERS Championships and is looking to be the first player ever to three-peat the event. The field for the PLAYERS features 48 of the world’s top 50 golfers, and while almost anyone can win on Tour in a given week, a top player almost always wins this event. The past five PLAYERS champions have all been top-10 players in the world in the week leading up to the event.
It has been up-and-down over the last several seasons for Justin Thomas, but he has been starting to find some form over the past few months. Thomas was once expected to be the next big thing on the PGA Tour but never quite found the consistently great play required to be a top-five player in the world. JT has not won on the PGA Tour since the 2022 PGA Championship. Before that major win, his last win on Tour was here at THE PLAYERS in 2021. Justin Thomas, like the rest of his career, has been up-and-down at TPC Sawgrass. He has won the tournament and has T3 and T11 finishes to his name as well. However, in the three tournaments since winning the event, he has finished T33, T60, and missed the cut last season.
However, if Thomas was to contend for a second PLAYERS title, this would be the year. Thomas has played in six events on Tour this season and has finished in the top ten of three of those events. He finished 2nd at the American Express, T6 at the WM Phoenix Open, and T9 at the Genesis Invitational, all against good fields. Thomas is hitting top 10s at a 50% rate so far this season, but his odds to finish in the top ten this week are +210 at DraftKings Sportsbook.
Justin Thomas has been striking the ball and putting incredibly well this season. Thomas ranks 7th on Tour in total strokes gained, 5th in strokes gained approach, 2nd in putting average and 4th in scoring average. The Ryder Cup is approaching and there is nothing JT loves more than the Ryder Cup. He is currently 11th in the points list for the US team. He will want to cement himself as an automatic qualifier for this summer’s team, and big finishes at important tournaments like THE PLAYERS are the best way to do that, so Thomas should be highly motivated this weekend. He knows how to win at this course and with his great form to start the season, Justin Thomas is a great bet to finish in the top ten.
