SEC Conference Tournament Winner
Alabama finished the regular season third in the SEC at 24-7. Before Saturday, it played seven straight games and went 2-5 in that stretch. But in its final regular season game, Alabama beat Auburn 93-91 in overtime. Auburn won the previous SEC tournament championship, but Alabama won two of the last four.
The Crimson Tide have a bye during the first two rounds of the SEC tournament. On Friday night, they will face the Oklahoma/Georgia vs. Kentucky winner. Grant Nelson had a big game against Auburn, scoring 23 points. If he keeps up his elite play, Alabama will have a chance against anyone in this field.
Mark Sears has been excellent this season, averaging 19.2 points, five assists, and 3.1 rebounds per contest. He has scored 20-plus points in five of the last six games and has three 30-point performances. Alabama has six players averaging double digits per game. Bama must improve its defense to get past Florida and Tennessee. Although they struggled against top-25 teams, Alabama is getting hot at the perfect time to make another run at an SEC tournament championship.
SEC Pick: Alabama (+425)
