James Harden U 8.5 Assists (-110)

With Norman Powell (hamstring) still sidelined, this 8.5-assist line is too high for Harden vs. the Kings. The guard and Powell have great chemistry and notably, 18% of Harden’s assists this season have come via Powell. Harden is averaging 8.5 assists per game this season, but in the 15 starts he has made without Powell, Harden’s average has dropped to 7.8 assists per game.

Harden has stayed under 8.5 assists in 10 of those 15 starts with Powell inactive and this isn’t an appealing matchup vs. Sacramento. With De’Aaron Fox out of town, the Kings have vastly improved defensively, ranking seventh in defensive rating since the All-Star break. Furthermore, they have massively slowed down their offense, ranking dead last in pace during this time.

This game’s 216.5-point total on DraftKings Sportsbook is easily the lowest of the eight NBA games on the schedule for Sunday and this matchup between the Clippers and Kings should be a slow-paced, defensive battle. In this unideal situation, Harden is an excellent bet for under 8.5 assists.
