Amen Thompson Injury Update: 3/10/25 vs. the Magic

Updated:

By: Zach Thompson

UPDATE: After the game on Sunday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Thompson will be out for 10 to 14 days. A MRI showed no structural damage.

The Rockets blasted the Pelicans on Saturday, 144-117, taking their second straight game from New Orleans. In that game, though, Amen Thompson landed on Karlo Matkovic’s foot in the fourth quarter and rolled his ankle. He was scheduled for an MRI on Sunday to determine the severity of the injury, but the team listed him as out for Monday’s game against the Magic.

Thompson had his third straight double-double on Saturday with 15 points and 11 assists, finishing with 44.75 fantasy points in just 33 minutes. He has been developing into one of the biggest young stars in the league, so his loss for however long he is sidelined will be a big blow to Houston.

One option to replace Thompson is Fred VanVleet ($6,600) who has missed the last four games and 15 of his last 16 games with an ankle injury of his own. He was listed as questionable for Monday against the Magic.

If VanVleet and Thompson are both out, the Rockets will be extremely thin at point guard leaving Jalen Green ($7,300) to work with Aaron Holiday ($3,400) and Nate Williams ($3,000) since Reed Sheppard (thumb) will miss at least four weeks.
