BREAK IT DOWN:
Kevin Durant Points, 20+ −450: KD, KD, KD. Always in the news, right? From possibly leaving Phoenix before the trade deadline this season, to already being name dropped in offseason conversations surrounding teams that would want to “pursue” Durant. Tonight though, let the man ball. KD has made three or more three-pointers in seven of his eight last appearances against teams that held a winning record—the Nuggets are 40-22, for context.
Averaging 26.9 points per game this season, the Slim Reaper (no, this isn’t one of the new nicknames X has gone crazy over) has been fairly consistent as of late, averaging 24.7 points over his last seven contests with five of those being over 20. I’m loving KD 20+ Points tonight, but we’ll have to parlay that with another sharp-shooter to make the odds more interesting.
De’Aaron Fox Points O/U, Over 22.5 −120: Oh. Boy. Foxy is heading back to Sacramento tonight for the first time since divorcing from the city and landing in San Antonio. Will there be a tribute video? My money’s on yes. While this may be a huge storyline tonight with the anticipation of De’Aaron Fox’s return to Golden1 Center, I wouldn’t necessary call this a “revenge game.” I mean, he wasn’t shipped off to a new location without warning as part of a league-altering trade. That being said, Foxy is bound to go crazy tonight.
The Kings’ defense has not been their strong point in recent history, but they’ve managed well in their last stretch. Sitting at 19th in the league in opponent points per game, Sacramento leads the league in lowest opponent points scored per game over their last three (105.7) and are holding teams to just 11 fastbreak points per game over the same stretch (T-1). This doesn’t mean the Kings won’t be caught ball watching as they have been many times, and without Domantas Sabonis and possibly Malik Monk on the floor, Foxy has a great opportunity to come into his old stadium and put up a solid performance.
