Maxx Crosby’s tenure with the Las Vegas Raiders is set to continue with the star defensive end set to become the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history following his recent extension. The two sides agreed to a three-year extension worth as much as $106.5 million with $91.5 million guaranteed. This will make him the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
This puts an end to the growing trade whispers surrounding Maxx Crosby for the time being. The Raiders’ star has been vocal in his displeasure with the state of the franchise, which has not finished with a winning record since the 2021 season. Crosby’s cryptic posts on social media have only added fuel to this fire.
The 28-year-old was set to enter the season in the final year of his contract before this deal was agreed upon. He now is set to be suiting up in silver and black until at least the 2028 season. While last year was viewed as a bit of a down season by his sky-high standards, Crosby still finished the year with 7.5 sacks, 45 tackles, and 17 tackles for a loss while commanding some of the most attention of any edge rusher in the league. Crosby will be entering his seventh NFL season next year and has qualified for the Pro Bowl four times already in his career.
The Raiders still have some larger questions to address as they enter the first season with Pete Carroll as head coach. The next step will be to find the long-term solution at quarterback and begin building up the rest of the roster to meet the standard that Crosby sets.
