Steph Curry Injury Update: 3/4/25 vs. the Knicks

Steph Curry rolled his right ankle in Monday’s victory against the Hornets. Following the game, the All-Star stated “I think I’m going to play, but if my ankle says I shouldn’t play, I won’t play.” It was a vague quote at the time and one that isn’t much clearer now that we have an official injury designation. Curry has been listed as questionable to suit up in tonight’s contest at Madison Square Garden.

All told, Curry logged 30.2 minutes versus Charlotte, scoring 21 points and dishing out 10 assists. It was the former MVP’s second consecutive double-double and, if you include his 56-point performance last Thursday, Curry is averaging an impressive 59.7 FPTS across his last three starts.

If Curry is unable to suit up, Buddy Hield would be a candidate to start in his place. In his 22 starts in 2024-25, Hield is producing 12.1 points yet is shooting a paltry 38.9% from the field. Since the trade deadline, Brandin Podziemski leads the Warriors’ in usage rate with Curry off the floor at 25.2%. That’s also translated into 1.12 FPTS per minute — a figure that is only slightly behind Jimmy Butler’s mark of 1.14. Butler’s registered fewer than 26 FPTS in each of his last three games, but the veteran would certainly be asked to do more if Curry was unable to play. He’d be a reasonable DFS asset in a matchup with a Knicks squad that owns the NBA’s fourth-worst defensive rating over its last 10 contests (119.0).
