The second half of the NBA season continues on Saturday with six games set to tip off. Among the matchups to watch, the scrappy Kings visit the Rockets in a battle of surprise playoff contenders. Elsewhere, Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Bucks take on Kyrie Irving and the Mavericks. There’s plenty of ways to get in on the action with DraftKings NBA Pick6 fantasy basketball selections before tonight’s matchups!
Mark Williams more than 11.5 rebounds
Somehow, Mark Williams is still a member of the Hornets. Following a failed trade deadline physical with the Lakers, Charlotte’s young center remains on one of basketball’s worst teams. Over the Duke alum’s last four games, he’s averaged 14.5 points and 10.5 rebounds while shooting 48.9% from the field.
On a team with high-volume scorers like LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges, it can be hard for anyone else to put up buckets. For that reason, it makes more sense to back Williams on the glass tonight. Charlotte’s opponent, the Wizards, have coughed up 56.1 rebounds per game to opponents this season, most in the NBA. When these two teams last met on February 3rd, Williams accounted for 14 boards. Another double-double is likely for the 23-year-old on Saturday.
Bilal Coulibaly more than 3.5 assists
It’s another wasted season in Washington, with an NBA-worst record of 10-48. Still, the entire second half won’t be meaningless. The Wizards have several intriguing pieces to develop, and there are plenty of minutes to go around. Among the names to watch, Bilal Coulibaly stands out. The forward isn’t much of a shooter, but he makes up for it with a well-rounded skillset. Through 54 games, the 20-year-old has posted 12.5 points, 4.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists.
Coulibaly’s passing doesn’t necessarily stand out, but he could serve as a distributor on Saturday. Since the trade deadline, the Wizards have had more of a need for play makers. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Frenchman has dished out four or more assists in six of his last ten contests. The Hornets have allowed 31.0 dimes over their last three games (third-most), so this isn’t the most intimidating defense. Look for Washington’s talented young wing to find his teammates tonight.
Cameron Johnson more than 18.5 points
There aren’t many reasons to care about the Nets, but Cam Johnson has given fans something to watch. The forward has enjoyed a career-best campaign, leading Brooklyn in scoring (19.0 PPG). That’s been made possible by seemingly unlimited range; the former first round pick has knocked down 40.8% of his three-point attempts this season.
The Nets will have a difficult task ahead of them tonight against a red-hot Pistons team. However, if Detroit has one weakness, it’s guarding the perimeter. The team has surrendered the sixth-most three-pointers made per game (14.0) and the third-highest three-point percentage (37.3%) to opponents. Johnson should have several good looks from beyond the arc in this one.
Domantas Sabonis less than 5.5 assists
Following the departure of De’Aaron Fox (more on him later), Domantas Sabonis hasn’t lived up to expectations. Sacramento’s center is still a stat-stuffing monster, but his production has declined without a talented ball handler. Since February 6th, the three-time All-Star has put up 15.5 points, 15.1 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game.
On paper, Saturday’s matchup doesn’t appear ideal for any member of the Kings on offense. The Rockets have allowed the third-fewest points (106.6) and the fewest assists (22.8) per game this season. Over Sabonis’ last six meetings with Houston, he’s recorded less than six assists four different times. Given the big man’s play as of late, there’s no reason to think that trend will change tonight.
De’Aaron Fox more than 23.5 points
Speaking of De’Aaron Fox, the guard is about one month into his tenure with the Spurs. Things haven’t gone according to plan for San Antonio, as Victor Wembanyama’s season ended early due to a blood clot. Still, the team is fortunate to have a former All-Star in the back court. Since joining his new team, Fox has produced 19.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 6.8 assists over ten games played.
After tallying just seven points vs. Houston on Wednesday, Fox will look to bounce back tonight. The Grizzlies are a far different matchup, allowing the 12th-most points per game (114.1) to opponents this season. The man nicknamed ‘Swipa’ has averaged 21.8 points over his last four meetings with Memphis. Considering he won’t have to share the rock with Sabonis or Wembanyama on Saturday, Fox should have ample opportunity to score.
Kelly Oubre Jr. less than 6.5 rebounds
As you might have heard, the 76ers will be without Joel Embiid for the rest of the season. Without its best player, Philadelphia’s dreams of postseason contention have all but slammed shut. Still, there are several quality players on this roster set for a bigger role. That includes Kelly Oubre; the two-way forward has posted 14.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists through 55 games.
In theory, the tenth-year pro should become one of the Sixers’ most important rebounders, given his 6’8″ size. However, that might not matter on Saturday. Over 38 games played without Embiid this season, Oubre has grabbed seven or more boards only eight times. Against a surging Warriors squad, Philadelphia’s do-it-all wing might not make a big impact on the glass.
