The Cleveland Cavaliers just keep rolling. With the NBA’s best record at 49-10, this is a team which has fully hit its stride at the right time as the NBA Playoffs approach in just a few short weeks.
The Cavs’ next matchup is a home date with the Portland Trail Blazers. It seems Cleveland will be without their star, though, as shooting guard Donovan Mitchell has been ruled out for rest.
It’s a deserved day off for the six-time All-Star. Mitchell’s 24.3 points and 4.8 assists per game have helped power Cleveland to the top of the league pyramid as true title contenders — he’s almost certainly a lock to make an All-NBA team for the second time in his career.
Even in Mitchell’s absence, the Cavs will probably be just fine against a 27-33 Trail Blazers squad likely to prioritize lottery odds above all else down the home stretch of the season. The only other players listed on Cleveland’s injury report are their two-way players on duty in the G-League.
