Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero headlines historic Times Square boxing event

Friday afternoon, Turki Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, announced that The Ring Magazine will host a boxing event in Times Square, New York City. This boxing card will take place on Friday, May 2, and will be headlined by Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero. 

The two other fights announced are Devin Haney vs. Jose Carlos Ramirez and Teofimo Lopez vs. Arnold Barboza. Garica initially defeated Haney in April 2024, but the win was overturned to a no-contest after he tested positive. Both fighters have not fought since. 

Lopez has won five straight fights and last beat Steve Claggett in June 2024. He is facing Barboza, who is 32-0 and most recently defeated Jack Catterall on February 15. Ramirez is fighting Haney, and lost to Barboza in his last fight in November 2024.

This event, titled FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves, will not take place at a traditional boxing venue but in the heart of New York City. This will be the Ring Magazine’s second event since being bought by Al-Sheikh.
