NBA Value Pick: Start Nickeil Alexander-Walker in DFS if Anthony Edwards sits vs. the Lakers

Anthony Edwards ($10,000, knee) is questionable tonight vs. the Lakers

Below, I break down my favorite value play from the Timberwolves if Edwards is out.

SG/SF, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Los Angeles Lakers, $4,800

With Rudy Gobert (back) and Julius Randle (groin) out for the last four, Alexander-Walker has received a large role of 35.5 minutes per game, which has resulted in 28.6 FPTS per game for the wing. Now, Edwards is dealing with a calf injury and if the All-Star sits, Alexander-Walker should barley leave the floor. With Edwards, Gobert and Randle off the floor this season, Alexander-Walker’s usage and assist rates rise 2.6 and 8.2 percentage points, respectively, and he scores 1.1 FPTS per minute. Alexander-Walker has played two games with Edwards inactive this season and Alexander-Walker has been excellent on those occasions with 34.5 FPTS in 39.2 minutes per game.

While the new look Lakers have been stout defensively, ranking second in defensive rating over their last 10 games, Alexander-Walker is way underpriced for the huge volume he would garner if Edwards is out and he will be a strong option for all formats if that ends up being the case.
