Winning two straight NBA championships would be an anomaly — no team has done so since the 2017-19 Golden State Warriors — so Jayson Tatum, who somehow earned the nickname earlier this season, might have a chance to make history in June.

Tatum’s Boston Celtics will travel to face the red-hot Detroit Pistons in a 7 p.m. ET clash. Somehow, the Pistons — the laughingstock of the NBA over the last five seasons — have won seven straight games and are nipping at the heels of the Indiana Pacers for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, Boston, on a six-game win streak of its own, is a 4.5-point favorite and the point total is set to 226.5. Below, I’ve outlined my favorite props centered around — begrudgingly — The Anomaly.

Tatum’s shot has been a little off ever since the All-Star Break — where, admittedly, he was robbed of All-Star Game MVP — as he’s averaged just 19.7 points and shot just 39.2% from the field and 27.6% from downtown over the three games since. Plus, his usage rate — 26.8% — is 3.7 percentage points lower than his season average, and with Boston in a comfortable position in the standings — six games behind the Cleveland Cavaliers for first, four games ahead of the New York Knicks in third — and Jrue Holiday healthy again, I wouldn’t expect Tatum to command 35-plus-percent usage again as long as the team is fully fit.

Plus, over Detroit’s seven-game winning streak, they’ve allowed the eighth-fewest points per game, even with the Atlanta Hawks scoring 143 points in regulation on Sunday. Across that span, only Trae Young (38) and Miles Bridges (30) scored more than 29 points against the Pistons. Of course, Tatum is a better scorer than either Young or Bridges, but the point remains — this Detroit defense is for real. Wing Ausar Thompson has been one of the league’s most improved players so far in 2025, and since January 1, opponents have shot 3.3 percentage points worse than usual when guarded by Thompson.
