The final matchup on tonight’s NBA slate will take place between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets. Both of these youthful cores appear poised for long-term success, although De’Aaron Fox’s squad took a hit following the news of Victor Wemabnayama being shut down for the season.
Regardless, the action is set to continue on the court with the home stretch of the regular season upon us. The Rockets will look to continue paving their playoff path and take the leap into the true contender conversation. On the opposite side, it is now De’Aaron Fox responsible for being the offensive engine for this Spurs team.
Across his nine games in San Antonio, Fox is averaging 21.0 points, 7.2 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. Looking at the season as a whole with 45 games logged in a Kings uniform, Fox has averaged 24.3 points, 6.3 assists, and 4.9 rebounds per game.
The Rockets enter this matchup as nine-point favorites at -380 on the Moneyline on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Spurs hold +300 odds on the Moneyline with the game total set at 228.5.
With the stage set, here are my favorite De’Aaron Fox prop bets ahead of the Wednesday night matchup.
Best De’Aaron Fox Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
De’Aaron Fox’s props are listed at over/under 22.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.5 made three-pointers and 33.5 combined points, rebounds and assists.
De’Aaron Fox Over 33.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-120)
While De’Aaron Fox will be looked at as the primary scorer moving forward, he is a complete player beyond what he sometimes gets recognition for. Fox is averaging 35.6 combined points, rebounds, and assists this season and has recorded over 33.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists in four of his nine games in San Antonio.
Houston has a stingy defense that ranks fifth in opponent points allowed, first in assists conceded, and eighth in opponent rebounds allowed. Fox has faced this team twice already but was still with the Kings for both matchups. He finished with 29 and 32 combined points, rebounds, and assists in these games.
However, in a new location and with the bright lights of national television on him, expect some different results in the cross-state rivalry. Fox has seen his workload scaled back a bit in recent games with a few of the matchups getting out of hand. He has played below his season average for minutes in two of his past three games, with both of these games resulting in double-digit losses. He also shot a combined 9-for-37 (24.3%) from the field over his past two games and should be set for some positive shooting regression.
Fox has yet to play up to his full standard on his new team and this will be the full focus for the remainder of the year. San Antonio is still a work in progress on the offensive end and need Fox to be the guy to get them there. He tallied 22 or more points in four-straight games before the back-to-back poor performances, and in six of the nine games with the Spurs overall. Expect him to be in attack mode offensively and for this to pave the way for Fox to do the rest of the damage with his playmaking and rebounding. Count on him to record over 33.5 combined points, rebounds, and assists tonight.
De’Aaron Fox to Record 3+ Made Three-Pointers (+145)
On the season overall, De’Aaron Fox is attempting 6.2 three-point attempts per game and connecting at a 31.5% rate. He has further struggled since joining the Spurs, shooting just 27.5% from beyond the arc, and is 14-for-51 across the nine games. Despite the struggles, Fox has connected on three or more three-pointers in 18 games this season, including twice in the past four games.
Both of these shooting numbers are below the standard for Fox. The Kentucky product has shot 33.1% from beyond the three-point arc in his career and connected at a 36.9% rate just last season. He will never be looked at as a deadeye from the perimeter, but the threat of Fox’s drive keeps these long-range opportunities consistently on the table.
The Spurs guard has attempted seven or more three-pointers in each of the last four games. This is the type of volume worth taking a chance on. Fox has shot a combined 6-for-10 across his two matchups with the Rockets so far this season and just last night Houston allowed Damian Lillard to shoot 4-for-11 from behind the arc.
Count on Fox’s shooting splits to begin correcting themselves as the season winds down with him having more success from beyond the arc. He has shown this ability against this Rockets team this season and will be expected to produce at a higher level without Wembanyama moving forward. Count on Fox to connect on three or more three-pointers for the third time in a Spurs uniform and capitalize on some tired legs with Houston being on the second night of a back-to-back.
