Fred VanVleet Injury Update: When will the Rockets’ point guard return?

Houston Rockets point guard Fred VanVleet has missed nine-straight contests due to an ankle injury, with the last contest he suited up for coming on February 1. While he was initially listed questionable to play against the Bucks on Tuesday night, the 31-year-old was ruled out ahead of tip-off, marking his 10th-consecutive absence.

At this point, people are asking — when will Fred VanVleet return to the lineup?

Thankfully for the Rockets, there’s now a timeline for their floor general’s return. According to head coach Ime Udoka, VanVleet will miss at least two more games.

Udoka said in media availability before Tuesday’s game that VanVleet’s movement range it about 80%, and that the team didn’t want to rush him into the lineup ahead of a back-to-back.

Houston’s young squad sat second in the Western Conference just a few weeks ago, but have quickly fallen all the way to fifth place after going 3-9 across their last 12 games. Without their floor general on the court, the offense has struggled to consistently produce, even against poor teams. When he does rejoin the lineup, the veteran’s presence should help stabilize the Rockets’ attack.
