The NBA’s big game on Monday night is a Western Conference matchup between the Thunder and the Timberwolves in Oklahoma City. The Thunder are 46-10 and have the top spot in the Western Conference, while the Timberwolves are 31-27 and currently sit in the No. 7 spot in the middle of a tight race for seeds six through nine. These teams will face off for the second day in a row and the third time in their last four contests. Let’s take a look at some of the best player prop bets in this rematch.
On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Thunder are 12-point home favorites in this matchup, which has a point total of 229 on DraftKings Sportsbook. Since both teams played last night against each other, neither has issued an injury report for Monday yet. On Sunday, the Wolves were without Rudy Gobert (back), Julius Randle (groin) and Donte DiVincenzo (toe). Jaylen Clark also left that game with neck pain and was not able to return.
Best Prop Bets for Timberwolves vs. Thunder on DraftKings Sportsbook
Naz Reid 20+ points (+125)
Reid has been filling in admirably over the last 10 games while Randle has been out. On the year, he’s averaging just 14.7 points while playing mostly off the bench, but in his last 10 games he has averaged 20.1 points. He didn’t go off in his first start against the Wizards while playing only 20 minutes, but he has been excellent in his nine games since then, producing 20 points or more in seven of those nine games.
Just before the All-Star break, Reid had 27 points and 14 rebounds against the Thunder, and on Sunday, he had 22 points and 11 rebounds. If both Gobert and Randle stay out, he’ll be in a great spot to continue his recent surge of production.
Reid is +175 to record a double-double and -110 to reach 30 Points + Rebounds + Assists. Both of those are solid options to back him as well, but I prefer to just attack this alternate point line at plus-money.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander 8+ assists (+200)
Gilgeous-Alexander is putting up MVP-type numbers for the Thunder, averaging 31.4 points per game. His scoring has been so prolific, though, that I don’t love the odds for his point production. Instead, I’m going to roll with his alternate assist prop in this Timberwolves vs. Thunder rematch.
On Sunday, SGA had eight assists to go with 37 points, eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. He also had eight assists in the Thunder’s first game back from break, which was a comfortable 23-point victory over the Jazz. Just before the break, SGA had nine assists against the Heat and nine assists against the Timberwolves, meaning he has hit this over prop in each of his last four games.
He is averaging under 7.0 assists per contest for the season, but he’s operating the offense very efficiently lately and handing out more dimes than usual. Part of his increased assists may be due to having Chet Holmgren back in the mix, although it’s unclear if Holmgren will be able to play on Monday since it’s the second night of a back-to-back. Either way, this is SGA’s show to run and he has been doing so masterfully over the past few games, putting this +200 prop well within his reach.
Jalen Williams over 19.5 points (-110)
Unlike SGA, Williams has not hit this prop in either of his two games since the All-Star break. He had 18 points in each of the first two games after the break, shooting an identical six-for-14 in wins over the Jazz and Timberwolves.
However, Williams is averaging 20.5 points per game on the season and will get a boost in usage if Chet does get the night off. Williams did have 20 points in the first matchup against Minnesota just before the break, when he scored 20 points for the 30th time in his 54 games (56%).
Williams has scored at least 20 points on the second leg of the last five back-to-back games for the Thunder and in three of his last six games at home.
