Fantasy Basketball Picks: Top DraftKings NBA Starting 5 DFS Plays for February 25

DraftKings, your paradise of DFS nirvana, has done it again with a new contest called NBA Starting 5. You select one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward and one center. There is no salary cap. The only stipulation is that you must select players from at least two different teams.

For Tuesday’s Starting 5 slate, there are seven games.

CHA is playing the second leg of a back-to-back.

As for injuries, Darius Garland, Fred VanVleet, Dillon Brooks, Jae’Sean Tate, Jakob Poeltl, Al Horford, Trayce Jackson-Davis, PJ Washington and Monte Morris are questionable. Dwight Powell is doubtful. Jrue Holiday, Charles Bassey and Luke Kornet are out. Keep track of all the pertinent injury updates at DK Live. CHA has not submitted yet.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, there is one double-digit favorite: GSW -15.5 over CHA. There is one game within three points: NOP -2 over SAS. There are two games with a total of at least 230: PHO/MEM (245) and SAS/NOP (237). There is no game with a total below 220.

Point Guard

Let us all rejoice and sing HalleLuka, as Luka Doncic gets to face the team that traded him away. Doncic only played 24 and 23 minutes in the first two games with the Lakers, but he’s received 33 and 31 minutes over the last two games. On Saturday, Doncic finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, a block and four steals, good for 68 FPTS. A triple-double wouldn’t surprise me in this one.

Shooting Guard

Devin Booker has gone for over 50 FPTS in each of the last two games. Beal has started the last two games. Coincidence? Probably not, as the presence of Beal allows more room for Booker to operate. Booker has attempted 25 and 20 shots while dishing out eight assists in each contest. Memphis plays fast so there should be plenty of chances to rack up those fantasy goodies.

Small Forward

Zion Williamson is only playing around 28 minutes a night, but he’s been uber-productive in those minutes. Zion has put up at least 40 FPTS in 10 of the last 12 games with four of those over 50 FPTS. The Pelicans just played the Spurs on Sunday with Zion finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals. Both of these teams play fast so there should be plenty of possessions.

Power Forward

Giannis Antetokounmpo is the top dog at the position but I’m going to deviate here and go with Jayson Tatum. Giannis can access a ceiling that Tatum can’t match, but the matchup against Houston lowers the probabilities that he gets there. Tatum has been pretty consistent this season, finishing mostly in 40-to-50 FPTS range. The matchup against Toronto is also easier, as the Raptors have been 21st in defensive rating over the last 10 games.

Center

I do like Alperen Sengun because he can triple-double on any given night, or at least get close. That said, Brook Lopez could give him some issues in the paint. P.J. Washington has a wide range of outcomes because his shooting efficiency is streaky. He can put up a 50-FPT burger, though, especially if the Lakers make it a priority to get the ball out of Kyrie Irving’s hands.

What is the DraftKings NBA Starting 5 Game Style?

  • The Fantasy Sports NBA Starting 5 Game Style is a type of contest in which participants draft lineups by selecting one point guard, one shooting guard, one small forward, one power forward and one center. NBA Starting 5 is scored the same way as classic NBA DFS contests.

Important Information:

  • Fantasy Sports NBA Starting 5 contests require no salary cap balancing.
  • NBA Starting 5 contests span multiple games, and Fantasy Sports participants must select athletes from at least two different teams.
  • Participants will see all five positions on the draft screen and must pick one athlete per position.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
