College Basketball Best Bets: Picks for Michigan State vs. Michigan on February 21

Big one in the Big Ten on Friday night, as Michigan State is getting rolling as March approaches, while Michigan is the favorite to win the conference, but really needs to secure a win at home on Friday night.

Let’s breakdown some college hoops picks for this Big Ten battle between Michigan State and Michigan.

Michigan State at Michigan (8:00pm ET)

The Wolverines ride a six-game winning streak into Friday night, but Sparty has some recent impressive wins under their belt too. Tom Izzo and company dug out of a double-digit hole as an underdog on the road at Illinois on Saturday to win the game, and then didn’t fall into the trap spot at home against Purdue on Tuesday. But MSU had dropped consecutive road game prior to Saturday, and this one should present a pretty tall task.

Michigan has protected home court this season, sitting at a perfect 12-0. But rather than lay a few points here, I am going to the Wolverines on the moneyline, as each of their last seven wins have come by four points or less. I put the play out last night on Twitter using Maryland moneyline, which got through. No worries if you’re late to the party, there are plenty of teams you could use on Saturday’s card (Wisconsin, Texas Tech, Florida, Alabama, Arizona), or if you don’t mind the juice you can play it straight.

The Wolverines should matchup well with Sparty, particularly down low with two talented bigs. I’m also going to look to the first half here to add a play. Michigan has come out pretty strong in games, while MSU is actually sitting on a 0-6 1H ATS run.

Michigan State vs. Michigan Pick: Michigan Moneyline (-125 with the MD parlay) 2-units

Michigan State vs. Michigan Pick: Michigan 1H Moneyline (-140) 1-unit
