Golf Best Bets: Top Finishing Position Props for the Mexico Open at Vidanta

The PGA TOUR is hosting the Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta (par 71, 7,436 yards, paspalum greens) this week, which has been the home of the Mexico Open since it was added to the annual PGA TOUR schedule four years ago. This is a field of 132 golfers and there will be a top-65 and ties cut following the first two rounds.

Below, I have featured some finishing position bets to consider for the Mexico Open at Vidanta.

Greyson Sigg for a Top-30 Finish (+125)

Sigg has competed at every Mexico Open at Vidanta Vallarta, finishing T-33rd, T-18th and T-19th, in that order. Sigg is gaining a strong 1.34 strokes per round at the par 71 and he has finished inside the top-25 in five of his last 10 starts, most recently with a T-9 finish at the Farmers Insurance Open last month.

Sigg’s driver has been awesome with him gaining strokes OTT in nine of his last 10 starts and he is gaining 1.24 strokes per round across his last 24 rounds at courses with paspalum greens. Sigg has a great chance to finish inside the top-30 this weekend and is a terrific bet to reach that feat at this +125 price.

C.T. Pan for a Top-30 Finish (+110)

Pan must be attacked for a top-30 finish at this plus-money price. The veteran has finished T-29th and T-3 in his two visits to Vidanta Vallarta, including a closing round 6-under-65 during that latter start, which was the lowest score of the final round for that Mexico Open. Pan is gaining 1.8 strokes per round at Vidanta Vallarta, which is the third-best among the players in this week’s field that have teed it up at the par 71 more than once.

Pan’s current form is also appealing, with three top-25 finishes in his last four starts, most notably with a T-6 at the Zozo Championship. Pan has shot under par in 15 of these 20 rounds and he gained strokes OTT at all four of these events, which is a great sign that he is ready to produce another high finish at Vidanta Vallarta. This venue is the fourth-longest track on the PGA TOUR and all three of the winners at the lengthy track have finished the Mexico Open T-11 or better in SG OTT.
