NBA Value Pick: Start Guerschon Yabusele in DFS with Joel Embiid ruled out

On Wednesday, the 76ers head into the All-Star break with a road game against the Nets. Since it’s the second game of a back-to-back the team ruled out Joel Embiid (injury management), Kyle Lowry (hip) and Eric Gordon (wrist), leaving some interesting value options to consider.

While he isn’t a bargain value, Guerschon Yabusele ($6,000) should have a good chance to bring a strong return at his salary as he picks up additional minutes and usage. With more work available and eligibility at both power forward and center, Yabusele is a DFS option worth considering with Embiid out.

Yabusele came off the bench in his last two games, producing 25.5 and 21.0 fantasy points, respectively, but he was much better in his previous stint in the starting lineup in place of Embiid.

In his 33 games played without Embiid this season, Yabusele averaged 26.0 fantasy points. In specifically his last 10 games in that situation, he produced 30.6 fantasy points. He had 10 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double against the Nets in November for 33.75 fantasy points, but he only had 14.5 fantasy points in their rematch in early January as Embiid played and took most of the usage.

Yabusele has remained a solid per-minute producer even with Embiid, but he gets so much more work and usage without his teammate available. Andre Drummond ($4,500) did return from a toe injury last week against Detroit, but only played eight minutes in that game and hasn’t played since. Neither Drummond or Adem Bona ($3,000) appeared on Tuesday, but both could be back in the rotation on Wednesday. However, Yabuesele still brings the best DFS potential of the group in the frontcourt and re-emerges as a viable midrange play with upside in this favorable matchup against Brooklyn.
