Spurs +8.5 (-105)
The Spurs are set to face the Celtics in their final game before the All-Star break. While the Celtics boast a deep scoring lineup with Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis, the Spurs have made strides, especially with Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox. These two have been developing a strong on-court chemistry. San Antonio’s ability to cover the spread will depend on its defense and how well Wembanyama handles the Celtics’ frontcourt. The Spurs will also look to bounce back from a tough loss and build momentum before the break. Expect them to keep it close, particularly given the Celtics’ minor struggles at home.
Magic -12.5 (-110)
The Hornets will be shorthanded as LaMelo Ball has been ruled out due to ankle soreness. This will significantly impact Charlotte’s chances against an Orlando squad that has been solid at home. The Magic are coming off a much-needed win and facing a Hornets team struggling with consistency. Without Ball, Charlotte’s offense will be limited, and Orlando’s strong defense should help it cover the spread. The Magic haven’t played their best basketball lately but face a favorable opponent to get back on track.
Pistons -6.5 (-110)
The Pistons, fresh off a dominant 132-92 win over the Bulls, will look to replicate that performance in their second game against the Bulls within the week. Detroit has been playing well, especially with Cade Cunningham leading the charge. The Pistons’ offense has been clicking, with strong contributions from Malik Beasley and Cunningham. Chicago has been struggling, particularly after losing leading scorer Zach LaVine and showing inconsistency in its defense. Detroit should be able to maintain its momentum from the previous night and secure a comfortable win, especially with the Bulls’ defensive lapses.
Warriors -6.5 (-115)
Golden State is looking strong after adding Jimmy Butler to the lineup, and it is 2-0 with him on the court. Butler immediately impacted its 125-111 victory over the Bucks, contributing 20 points, nine rebounds and six assists. This rejuvenated lineup, paired with Stephen Curry’s consistent scoring, has made Golden State a serious contender. The Mavericks are facing many injuries, including the absence of Anthony Davis and each of the team’s rotation bigs. With Butler in the Warriors’ lineup, Golden State is primed to cover the spread. Expect Curry and Butler to continue their strong performances to propel the Warriors to another victory.
Grizzlies +4.5 (-112)
The Grizzlies have been in excellent form, winning 11 of their last 13 games. They will face the Clippers, who are still finding their rhythm with Kawhi Leonard returning to regular form after his injury. While Leonard has been effective, the Clippers’ inconsistent recent execution has limited them. Memphis has dominated, with Ja Morant and Desmond Bane leading the charge. The Grizzlies’ defense will test the Clippers, who are still working out their new rotation following the trade deadline. Memphis is well-positioned to keep this game close, and with its recent success, it is a solid pick to cover the +4.5 spread.
