The Miami Heat may be without their star point guard for Wednesday’s contest against the Oklahoma City Thunder as Tyler Herro battles an illness.
Herro is listed as questionable for the 8 p.m. EST road clash with the Western Conference’s top-seeded team.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a career-best season and recently earned his first-ever All-Star selection. With averages of 23.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, Herro has fully cemented his place as one of the NBA’s young stars. He’s scoring with admirable efficiency, too, with shooting splits of 46.4% from the field and 38.8% from three.
Notably, Heat shooting guard Jaime Jaquez Jr. is also questionable due to an illness. If Herro can’t play, Jaquez Jr. would likely see increased usage, but if neither suit up, look for Terry Rozier or recent acquisition Andrew Wiggins to absorb additional offensive responsibility.
The Heat are seventh in the Eastern Conference at 25-26, though some of the team’s struggles can be attributed to the trade saga of former star Jimmy Butler. After moving on from Butler last week, Miami will look to integrate their new players into the rotation and hit their stride for a playoff push following the All-Star Break.
