Report: Brandon Ingram agrees to an extension with the Raptors

This shouldn’t come as too much of a shock, but after acquiring Brandon Ingram prior to last week’s NBA trade deadline, the Raptors have locked up the former All-Star to a three-year, $120 million contract, per ESPN’s Shams Charania. The deal includes a player option in 2027-2028.

Ingram had been eligible to sign a three-year extension with Toronto for as much as $144 million before June 30.

It’s a lot of money to be giving the oft-injured veteran — certainly more than New Orleans was willing — but we’ve seen the Raptors make these sorts of “pre-agency” moves several times now. Notably, they used very similar tactics in locking up Jakob Poeltl and Immanuel Quickley to long-term contracts.

Ingram has not appeared in a game since all the way back on December 7 due to a significant ankle injury. In total, the former second-overall pick has been limited to 18 starts in 2024-25, averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists while shooting 37.4% from three-point range.

He’ll now team-up with Scottie Barnes and the aforementioned Quickley to form Toronto’s core for the foreseeable future. The team should also get a high pick in the much-anticipated 2025 NBA Draft. The Raptors are currently 16-37, the league’s fifth-worst record, which would give the franchise a 10.5% chance to nab the first-overall pick.
