The Pacers defeated the Knicks in seven games and a big part of the reason that the Knicks acquired Karl-Anthony Towns last offseason was to take them past teams like the Pacers. So far this season, it has paid off for the Knicks. New York is currently the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference and the Pacers are the No. 4 seed. However, there is a 4.5-game gap between the two teams at the moment. Towns has added a new element to the Knicks that was missing last season. Once Julius Randle got injured, the Knicks had to play a small lineup to be efficient on offense and a lineup with fewer offensive threats if they wanted to rebound and defend at a high level. Towns has changed the game for the Knicks, as he is averaging 24.0 PPG this season and is also second in the NBA in rebounds per game.
Pacers center Myles Turner is questionable for this game. Turner missed Saturday’s game against the Lakers with a neck injury and he could miss this game as well. Siakam is likely to be given the responsibility of defending Towns for a lot of this game and without Turner backing him up, Siakam will need to give Towns space on the perimeter so that he doesn’t get dominated inside by Towns’ superior size.
My favorite prop bet for this game is for Karl-Anthony Towns to make over 1.5 three-pointers. Towns has form and matchup history in his favor when it comes to this prop. Towns cleared this number in both matchups against the Pacers so far this season. He also cleared this number in each of his past two games. It has only been four games, but Towns is shooting 50% from beyond the arc so far in February. Towns should get some open looks against this Pacers defense, which ranks 19th in defensive rating. Jalen Brunson will be able to get into the paint and if Myles Turner isn’t there to protect the rim, everyone else will have to collapse on Brunson.
