LaMelo Ball sprained his left ankle a few weeks ago, causing him to miss five games. He returned on Friday and played 36 minutes, but then sat on Sunday with the Hornets playing a back-to-back.
On Monday, Ball exited in the second quarter and has now been ruled out for the remainder of the game.

There’s been no mention of when the injury occurred, but it’s being reported as soreness in his right ankle. It was the left ankle that caused him to miss five games.
K.J. Simpson started the second half for ball and would continue starting if Ball is out for an extended period of time. Simpson played 26.2 minutes per game in the five games that Ball missed and got the start on Sunday, playing 32 minutes. Simpson has scored at least 20 FPTS in five of the last six games.
Charlotte next plays on Wednesday then it’s the All-Star break, so it’s likely that Ball won’t return to action until next Wednesday.
Miles Bridges gets more offensive responsibility with Ball out. On the season, the usage rate bump has been 6.44%.
