Super Bowl Best Bets: Patrick Mahomes Prop Bets for Chiefs vs. Eagles

The Chiefs take on the Eagles in Super Bowl 59 as they look to win their third straight championship. Here are some Patrick Mahomes prop bets to consider at DraftKings Sportsbook.

Patrick Mahomes Prop Bets

Here are Patrick Mahomes’ current prop bet odds at DraftKings Sportsbook: o/u 251.5 passing yards, o/u 1.5 passing touchdowns and o/u 29.5 rushing yards. Mahomes is +310 to score a touchdown, +2500 to score 2+ touchdowns and +1800 to score the first touchdown of the game.

Patrick Mahomes is on a mission to win his third straight Super Bowl and his fourth overall. Mahomes has been the MVP of all three of his Super Bowl victories so far and is looking to cement himself in NFL history with this victory. The Chiefs had an incredible season, going 15-2 with one of those losses coming in Week 18 with the Kansas City starters resting. The Bills were the only team that managed to beat Patrick Mahomes all season and Mahomes got his revenge on Buffalo in the postseason. The Chiefs are facing the Eagles, who they beat in the Super Bowl just two seasons ago at the start of this three-peat journey. Mahomes will need another masterful performance if the Chiefs are to win their third straight ring.

The Eagles have a lot of advantages over the Chiefs in this game. They have had the better defense all season, the better offensive line and the better skill position players. However, the Chiefs have the better quarterback and Mahomes will need to be nearly flawless if the Chiefs hope to win this game. Including the postseason, the Eagles are second in the NFL in defensive EPA/play, second in defensive success rate and they are elite in the secondary. The Eagles have a dangerous pass rush that should be able to win against the Chiefs’ banged-up offensive line. Their young secondary has also progressed incredibly well throughout the season and should be able to make life really hard on Patrick Mahomes. Andy Reid will need to find creative ways to get the ball out of Mahomes’ hands quickly in order to avoid the Philadelphia pass rushers.

My favorite Patrick Mahomes prop for this game is for him to have under 36.5 passing attempts. This number is really high because Mahomes averaged around 35 passing attempts per game this season. However, in the postseason it has been a different story. Mahomes threw 25 passes against the Texans and 26 passes against the Bills. The Chiefs lost the time of possession battle in both of those games, and the Eagles are one of the best teams in the league at keeping possession of the ball because of their great running game. The Eagles should control the clock for most of this one and try to keep the ball out of Mahomes’ hands. That is exactly what happened when these teams played in Super Bowl 57, despite the Chiefs winning the game. The Eagles had the ball for 11.5 minutes longer than the Chiefs and that led to Mahomes only throwing 27 passes. The Eagles should have a similar approach in this game and that will keep Mahomes under his passing attempts prop.

Pick: Patrick Mahomes u36.5 Passing Attempts (-115)
