LeBron James and Luka Doncic Injury Updates: February 10 vs. the Jazz

Updated:

By: Stan Son

UPDATE: Doncic will play but have a minutes limit. James is available and will start.

UPDATE: Both Doncic and James have been upgraded from questionable to probable for Monday’s game vs. the Jazz. With Doncic in the mix, Dorian Finney-Smith or Rui Hachimura should move to the bench. Also, Doncic has commanded a huge usage rate throughout his career, so his presence may hurt some key Lakers’ player’s roles in the offense. With Doncic ready to make his Laker debut, Los Angeles is a 13-point favorite over the Jazz on DraftKings Sportsbook.

LeBron James has been dealing with an ankle injury and missed Saturday’s contest. He is questionable for Monday’s contest against the Utah Jazz.

Recently-acquired Luka Doncic last played on Christmas but he could make his Lakers debut on Monday as he’s also listed as questionable.

The Lakers had no issues playing without James and Doncic on Saturday, as Austin Reaves stepped up with 45 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals while Rui Hachimura contributed 24 points and nine rebounds.

If Doncic is able to play on Monday, Gabe Vincent would likely go to a reserve role. Reaves would lose some usage but would still garner hefty offensive responsibility, especially since Doncic would likely be on a minutes limit.

If James is able to return, either Hachimura or Dorian Finney-Smith would go to the second unit. It would depend if JJ Redick wants to have more defense alongside James and Doncic. If so, then Finney-Smith would likely remain in the starting unit.

Stan joined DraftKings in December of 2020. It was a glorious time, except for that whole COVID thing, when we got Madden streams and boisterous bat flips from the KBO. I was brought on board to bring some West Coast flavor. I especially love hoops, and most of my content is in that arena. When I walk along the beach, strumming my guitar, the beat that I hear is not one of crashing waves. No, it is the beat of the ball bouncing off the hardwood with highs provided by the squeaks of the sneakers. Ball is life.
