The Chiefs and Eagles will meet in the Super Bowl for the second time in three years, as Kansas City looks for a three-peat, while Philly looks for revenge from two years ago in Arizona. I’ll have several bets on the game, and will put them all out in article form leading up to Super Bowl Sunday. The one future I do have in pocket is Chiefs (+550) to win the Super Bowl, so a lot of my bets will be working off that. I think this should be a terrific game and a close game, so I might try to find ways to both cash that future, while backing the Eagles in other ways, as I feel they’ll have some success in this game.
With all eyes on Saquon Barkley, I’m looking to another weapon within Philly’s offense to put up numbers in a good matchup. Let’s breakdown this Super Bowl player prop.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, February 9th (New Orleans, LA) 6:30pm ET
It’s no secret that the Chiefs struggle defending the tight end position, or at least just allow opposing offenses to utilize that position. They’ve had this issue for years, and it remained this season, allowing over 67 yards per game to TE, which ranked dead last in the NFL. It was a consistent issue for Kansas City all season, dating back to the opener against the Ravens, when Isaiah Likely went off for 111 yards.
Goedert went for 55 or more receiving yards in six of the 12 full games he played this season, including three of his last four. Those games include seven receptions for 85 yards in the NFC Championship, four grabs for 56 yards in a playoff victory over the Rams, and four catches for 55 yards in the season finale against the Giants. Sandwiched in between there, Goedert nearly got to this mark in the playoff opener against the Packers, finishing with 47 yards.
When these teams met in the Super Bowl two years ago, Goedert factored heavily into the game plan, turning seven targets into six receptions for 60 yards. Look for the Eagles’ TE to see a similar role this time around, putting him in good position to go over his Super Bowl player prop in a favorable matchup.
Super Bowl Player Prop: Dallas Goedert OVER 51.5 Receiving Yards (-110) – 1-unit
