The biggest game of the year has finally arrived––Chiefs vs. Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. Philadelphia has revenge on its mind after falling to Kansas City two years ago in Super Bowl LVII and is a 1.5-point underdog on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set O/U 48.5 points.
Since you’re here, that means you’re a first touchdown scorer prop bet sicko as myself. This is the Super Bowl, so anything can happen and coaches will dig deep into their bags of tricks, especially in the red zone. That said, touchdown magnets are leading the way in terms of odds on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Here are the top players with the shortest odds to score the first touchdown in Super Bowl LIX:
- Saquon Barkley (+450)
- Jalen Hurts (+600)
- Kareem Hunt (+900)
- Travis Kelce (+1000)
- Xavier Worthy (+1100)
- A.J. Brown (+1200)
Unsurprisingly, Saquon Barkley scoring the first touchdown of the game is one of the most bet player props on DraftKings Sportsbook. I have my eyes on another player, however. Please read below for my first touchdown scorer prediction in Super Bowl LIX.
Kansas City Chiefs at Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts First TD Scorer (+600)
It is a dangerous game choosing an Eagle not named Saquon Barkley to score the first touchdown but Jalen Hurts is the exception. He scored the first touchdown against the Rams in the Divisional Round and has already found the end zone four times this postseason. Hurts has also had time to heal up his ailing knee injury and should be back to near 100% health.
Both Philadelphia and Kansas City have scored the game’s first touchdown in each of its postseason games. However, the Chiefs have scored the first touchdown just once in their last four Super Bowl appearances, and Hurts scored first on a tush push in Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs allowed the seventh-most rushing yards and ninth-most rushing touchdowns to opposing quarterbacks this season. In fact, they’ve particularly struggled against Hurts, who has averaged 48.7 rushing yards and 1.7 touchdowns per game in the last three meetings.
Kansas City’s defense ranks 11th in rush EPA and 12th in success rate. It struggled against James Cook in the AFC Championship and will likely struggle to limit Barkley. The Chiefs ranked 10th in red zone scoring percentage during the regular season and have been very good in both postseason games. I’m fully expecting Barkley to have a day but banking on Kansas City forcing every yard out of Philadelphia and leading to a classic tush push.
