UPDATE: Davis has been ruled out for Monday vs. Kings due to a left adductor strain.

UPDATE: Anthony Davis spoke to reporters postgame and is optimistic this is not a serious injury. Davis said he felt some tightness around his groin area but downplayed the level of concern. His status will be something to monitor moving forward and the Mavericks will surely be careful with their new franchise centerpiece.


UPDATE: Anthony Davis did not return to the matchup against the Rockets. The Dallas Mavericks announced Anthony Davis is doubtful to return with what is being called a lower-body injury but he did not return to the floor.

The status of Davis will be something to monitor moving forward. It should be noted that the star big man missed time with an abdominal strain initially sustained when he was still with the Lakers. This injury is what held him out before making his debut with his new team today. There has been no official diagnosis at this point and his Mavericks debut resulted in a 116-105 victory over the Rockets.
The Dallas Mavericks debut of Anthony Davis took a turn for the worst as the star center left the game with a non-contact injury around the groin area.

Davis slid over to attempt to block a shot at the rim against Alperen Sengun and ended up dropping to his knees in pain. Play continues as the prized trade acquisition stood around the Mavericks bench before he was subbed out of the game.
Before the injury occurred, Davis was off to a near-perfect start in his Dallas debut. He finished the first half with 24 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, becoming the third player in franchise history to record this line in a half. He was subbed out of the game with 1:37 left in the third quarter. Davis had improved his statistical output to 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks before leaving the game.
