NBA fans got a taste of the De’Aaron Fox-Victor Wembanyama connection on Wednesday against the Hawks. The two led the Spurs to a one-point victory in their first game together.
The duo is back for its second contest. The Spurs will play the third game of their six-game road trip against the Charlotte Hornets. It’s the first time these teams will face off this season, with the second of two matchups coming in March.
Wembanyama finished last game with 24 points and 12 rebounds. He only had one block, which is well below his league-leading 3.9 per game average.
The star big will match up with the struggling Hornets. The Spurs are 10.5-point favorites on the road and the game total is set at 228.5 points on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Victor Wembanyama over 11.5 rebounds (-135)
Wembanyama is one of few NBA players that can put together the most extraordinary stat lines on any given night. He’s an incredible talent and regularly proves why his prop bet lines are so high.
The first time All-Star is averaging 24.6 points, 10.9 rebounds and a league-leading 3.9 blocks this season in 33 minutes per game. He’s had a 5×5 game, a 10-block game, a 50-point game and one triple double this season. He can do it all.
Tonight, I’m backing his rebounds. Wembanyama has a season high of 23 rebounds and has hit the 20+ mark twice this season. His prop bet line tonight is set at over/under 11.5 rebounds.
The Hornets are an interesting matchup for Wembanyama. They’re 12-36 but are an excellent rebounding team, ranking fourth in rebounds per game this season. That, however, was before all the trades went down.
Charlotte featured Nick Richards and Mark Williams as the top two centers in the rotation. The front office traded both prior to the deadline. Grant Williams and Taj Gibson helped out as well, but Williams suffered a season-ending injury and Gibson turns 40 in June.
The team did acquire Jusuf Nurkic at the deadline, so he’ll likely fill in the frontcourt gap in Charlotte. That said, the trade is still pending and he’s questionable for tonight’s game against the Spurs.
The Hornets are lacking size and need Nurkic to suit up, but it’s possible the team is forced to play small ball against the Spurs. While Wembanyama seemingly makes everyone look small, the Hornets would be severely punished without a true center.
What once was a great rebounding team in Charlotte isn’t looking as good now. The team is decimated by injuries and has a limited frontcourt even if Nurkic makes his Hornets debut.
Recent games also favor Wembanyama’s over 11.5 rebounds. He’s hit this mark in four of his last five outings. If there was ever a night to bet a Wembanyama rebounding ladder, tonight may be it.
