Anthony Davis Injury Update: February 8 vs. the Rockets

It’s a little strange to not be sure if a fanbase is excited to see Anthony Davis make his home debut, but such is life when you’re the return package in one of the most shocking trades of all-time. Either way, Davis is off the injury report and will start for the Mavericks in Saturday’s 3:00 p.m. ET tilt against Houston.

Davis has been sidelined since January 28 with an abdominal issue. The former first-overall pick is in the midst of a fantastic season, averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per contest in his 42 games with the Lakers. Davis was also maintaining a 30.4% usage rate. It remains to be seen if that will increase or decrease playing alongside Kyrie Irving and the rest of Dallas’ roster.

The Mavericks are flying high after a surprising 127-120 victory over the Celtics in Boston on Thursday. Dallas utilized a very balanced offensive attack in that contest, with six different players scoring at least 15 points. Still, as you might expect, it was Klay Thompson (26.4%) and Irving (23.5%) who led the starting five in usage. Look for Davis to take Kessler Edwards’ spot in the starting lineup.
