Super Bowl LIX takes place on Sunday, February 9, 2025, where the two-time defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs, will face the NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles. This is a rematch of Super Bowl LVII from 2023, where we saw the Chiefs win that matchup 38-35. This year’s big game will kick off at 6:30 p.m. ET and is airing live on Fox.
In 2024, Reba McEntire performed the national anthem at Super Bowl LVIII. McEntire sang the anthem at 1:35, which was the shortest amount of time since Kelly Clarkson in 2012. Clarkson’s performance lasted 1:34, the shortest in the previous 17 years.
The national anthem has gone two or more minutes eight times in the previous 12 Super Bowls. We haven’t seen two Super Bowl anthems go under two minutes since 2011-12. This year, Jon Batiste, a singer and songwriter, will perform the national anthem before Super Bowl LIX.
Although it has become tradition for one or two people to perform the anthem, that hasn’t always been the case. In five of the first nine Super Bowls, different musical groups performed it.
