Top Swiftie Special for Super Bowl LIX
ME!: Saquon Barkley to Have a 50+ Yard Longest Rush (+350):
Immovable object vs. Unstoppable force. My favorite kind of matchup. In this case, I’m backing the unstoppable force, AKA Saquon Barkley. The Eagles’ offensive juggernaut has ripped a 60+ rush back-to-back in the playoffs including a 78-yard run vs. the Rams and a 60-yard touchdown on the first offensive play of the game vs. Washington. Barkley has generated 339 rushing yards after contact this postseason; however, the Chiefs’ defense has allowed just 2.4 yards after contact in the postseason, hence the immovable object (per NGS). The Chiefs defense also recorded the lowest missed tackle rate in the NFL in the regular season (10.7%), meaning Barkley will have to dig into his bag of tricks to evade or break tackles from talented linebackers and DBs.
The Chiefs defense is great, of course, but back to Barkley. The Penn State Alum has reached a top speed of 20+ mph on 14 touches this season including in the postseasonโin fact, the birthday boy (yes, it’s Barkley’s birthday on Super Bowl Sunday) is responsible for three of the seven carriers in which a back reached 20+ mph this postseason. While the Chiefs have been very successful at stopping the run with blocked boxes, Philly needs just one or two successful outside zone plays to give Barkley enough space to either cut back and dart through an open gap, or use that 20+ mph speed on the outside to rip a long rush.
What’s outside zone without a competent offensive line sealing defenders? Nothing. We can’t omit the impressive play of the Eagles’ offensive line this year. Philly has gained 1,346 rushing yards before contact, which is the most by any team since 2019, per NGS. They are dealing with injuries, however, with center Cam Jurgens nursing a lingering back injury and Lane Dickerson suffering a knee injury in the NFC Championship game.
I’ve got confidence in Saquon’s ability to break off a big one in this game. I’m taking Barkley to the moon.
