The Philadelphia Eagles’ offense is a high-flying one, averaging 28.4 points per contest. Through the entire season’s sample, Philly attempts an average of 2.2 field goals per game, connecting on 1.7 per contest.
Looking at a game-by-game basis, Jake Elliott attempted two or more field goals in 16 of 20 games. Furthermore, he booted at least two kicks through the uprights in 13 of those 16.
While Elliott’s overall reliability isn’t a high point this season, with the second-lowest FG% of his career at 77.8%, six of his eight misses all came from 50 yards out or greater. When kicking from a distance of 49 yards or less, he sent 27 of 29 attempts through the uprights.
As the kicker for a high-powered offense, it’s more likely than not that Elliott will see at least two field goal attempts on Sunday in New Orleans. There’s two more factors acting in his favor, too — this year’s Super Bowl takes place in a dome, so weather isn’t a concern, and the Chiefs defense also allows 1.9 field goal attempts per game.
