This line is obviously inflated due to recency bias and the public’s overall willingness to bet on Barkley to succeed, but who am I to tell them they’re wrong? Barkley has cleared this prop in all three of the Eagles’ playoff games so far. He’s also cleared it in 10 of his last 14 starts going back to a 176-yard performance in Week 7 against the Giants. It’s a stretch where Barkley is averaging a mind-boggling 140.4 rushing yards per contest.
In terms of the Chiefs as an opponent, I wouldn’t say it’s a matchup to fear. While Kansas City did surrender the ninth-fewest opponent rushing yards per game (106.7), a lot of that has to do with script. As you might expect, a team that started the season 15-1 was often winning late in games, which meant teams only ran the ball versus the Chiefs on 41.3% of their offensive snaps. That won’t be the Eagles’ plan of attack. Philadelphia led the NFL in rush attempts per contest by a pretty significant margin (36.3). James Cook averaged 6.5 yards per rush in the AFC Championship Game. Some feel the Bills should have featured the young star more. Trust me when I say people won’t have the same complaint about the Eagles and Barkley.

This isn’t a question of whether or not Barkley will be viable for DraftKings’ Super Bowl Showdown contest, it’s a question of how you want to implement him due to his hefty price tag and what will likely be sky high ownership.
To recap his exploits this season is to re-live a dream. Barkley is a unicorn: An efficient bell cow running back in the year 2025. Not only did he lead the NFL in rushing yards, but he did so while logging at least a 75% snap share in 10 of his 16 starts. By the end of the regular season, no player aside from Ja’Marr Chase had accumulated more FPTS than Barkley’s total of 384.3. The man is a machine.
Barkley is going to be so popular that I almost feel the best way to differentiate your lineups is to bite the bullet and put him in the Captain’s slot — where he’ll then account for a whopping 36% of your available salary. The trick then becomes roster construction from that point on. You’ll need to take a chance on some scrubs to fill out a balanced lineup, with JuJu Smith-Schuster ($2,000) and Samaje Perine ($2,000) standing out as the most obvious options.
