Trae Young U 23.5 Points (-125)

Young has been battling a hamstring injury recently and it has clearly affected him. The guard is averaging only 17 PPG in his last four starts. He has fallen way short of 23.5 points in all of these games. The Hawks received some tough news Wednesday that Jalen Johnson (shoulder) would miss the rest of the season, and while one would presume the forward’s absence would help Young as a scorer, that hasn’t been the case this season.

In the nine starts Young has made without Johnson this season, the former is scoring under his average for the season with 21.8 PPG. Young has only scored over 23.5 points in three of those nine games with Johnson inactive, and Thursday presents a tough road matchup against the top seeded Cavaliers.

Cleveland ranks 10th in defensive efficiency, and Young has scored 20 and 21 points in his two matchups against the Cavs this season. Another major concern is that a blowout is certainly possible tonight. The Hawks have lost six in a row, are 4-7 without Johnson this season, and are a 10-point road underdog this evening. Young would see his minutes cut short in a lopsided affair, and this 23.5-point line is just too high for the guard Thursday considering all the things working against him.
