Wednesday night brings a jam-packed NBA schedule, and in one of the two late games, the Phoenix Suns host the Minnesota Timberwolves in a Western Conference matchup. Both teams are trying to establish themselves as playoff contenders in a very crowded conference race. The Suns are the eighth seed with. a 24-21 record, while the Wolves are 25-21 in the No. 7 spot. As the two teams go head-to-head this Wednesday in what could be a Play-In Tournament preview, let’s take a look at some of the best Timberwolves and Suns prop bets for this rematch.
The Timberwolves are one-point road favorites with the point total at 218.5 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Timberwolves won the first meeting this season between these teams, 120-117 in Minnesota back in November. For this rematch, Rob Dillingham (illness) and Naz Reid (illness) are questionable for Minnesota, while the Suns listed forwards Kevin Durant (thumb) and Ryan Dunn (ankle) as questionable. Durant did not go through shoot around, so he seems to be in real jeopardy of missing this contest.
Best Prop Bets for Timberwolves vs. Suns on DraftKings Sportsbook
Devin Booker to score 25+ Points (-130)
Devin Booker has scored at least 26 points in nine of his last 10 games against Western Conference opponents and had 44 points against the Timberwolves in the first meeting of the season. If you’re feeling more aggressive, Booker’s 30+ points line is valued at +195. It feels like a good possibility as well.
Durant’s availability could move this line dramatically, but I actually like it either way. Booker has averaged 25.2 points per game in his 10 games without Durant this season and his usage in those contests climbs to 29.9 percent.
Even if Durant does play, though, Booker has a good shot to get at least 25. He had 26 points against he Clippers with Durant on Monday and has gone over this number in seven of his last nine games overall.
Julius Randle under 1.5 three-pointers (-105)
Julius Randle made three three-pointers on Monday against the Hawks in the Timberwolves eight-point victory. However, he finished under this number in 12 straight games before that outburst. He had only made more than one three-pointer in one of his previous 15 games, shooting 20.3 percent from long-range.
Randle’s matchup last game was a favorable one since the Hawks were short-handed after the loss of Jalen Johnson (shoulder). The Suns should give him a tougher matchup on Wednesday whether Durant and Dunn are available or not.
On the season, Randle is averaging 1.5 three-pointers per game, but he has come under this number in 30 of his 46 games (65 percent).
Nick Richards to record a double-double (+270)
Nick Richards will go head-to-head with Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert, and I like him at this number to grab a double-double. Since arriving in Phoenix via trade from Charlotte, Richards has quickly taken over the starting role from Mason Plumlee. Jusuf Nurkic is also back, so there is some concern with Richards’ playing time which is baked into the number here.
Richards is averaging 11.8 points and 11.2 rebounds in his five games with the Suns, posting double-digit rebounds in three of five games with a pair of double-doubles. Richards really flourished against the Wizards last Saturday, racking up 20 points and 19 boards. While he probably won’t get to that extreme level in this tougher matchup against the Wolves, Minnesota has allowed a double-double to an opposing frontcourt member in six straight games.
If you’re looking for a plus-money play in this matchup, Richards is a strong option at this price to nearly triple-up your bet if he gets a double-double.
