Alperen Sengun Injury Update: January 30 at the Grizzlies

Houston Rockets center Alperen Sengun is officially listed questionable for Thursday’s matchup with a division rival.

The Turkish big man is dealing with a calf issue and carries a questionable tag for the road game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

The 22-year-old is putting together an excellent campaign thus far, averaging 19.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per contest. While his shooting efficiency is down compared to last season, the Rockets’ star center remains a key cog in the team’s offensive attack.

Aside from Sengun, fellow center Stephen Adams is also questionable for Thursday’s game due to ankle soreness. In the event that Sengun doesn’t play but Adams is available, the veteran big man will likely get the start. As one of the league’s most effective players on a per-minute basis with a near-career high 22.6% TRB%, Adams could be in for a huge night on the boards against his former team. If neither of Sengun or Adams suit up though, Jock Landale could get the starting nod instead.

The Rockets are in the midst of a surge this season, sitting second in the Western Conference at 32-14. This matchup is especially important for Houston as they remain just 1.5 games ahead of Memphis in the standings.
