After sitting out Monday’s loss to the Timberwolves with a hamstring ailment, Trae Young has been listed as questionable for tonight’s contest against the Rockets. If he’s able to play, he’d join Dyson Daniels back in Atlanta’s starting lineup, as the Australian import does not appear on the Hawks’ injury report. Daniels also missed yesterday’s tilt with Minnesota due to an ankle issue.
With both guards unavailable on Monday, Atlanta was forced to get creative with its starting lineup. David Roddy made just his third start of 2024-25, while Keaton Wallace was elevated from the G League and thrust in with the starters — just as was the case when Young missed his last contest back on January 15. Wallace wasn’t quite as successful in his second opportunity, but the rookie did lead all Hawks players in minutes (34.8) and he was able to register 31.25 FPTS.
With Young off the floor this season, De’Andre Hunter owns the team’s highest usage rate at 29.3%. We saw this dynamic play out against the Timberwolves, with Hunter dropping 35 points off the bench with a team-best 36.1% usage rate. Considering his price tag is down $300 on DraftKings in the last 24 hours, Hunter would be a popular target in DFS should Young find himself in street clothes once again.
