A four-game, eight-team NBA slate is on tap for basketball fans on Tuesday. Among the matchups to watch, the streaking Lakers will visit a desperate 76ers team in Philly. Elsewhere, the upstart Rockets travel to Atlanta to take on Trae Young and the Hawks. Anthony Davis more than 12.5 rebounds
LeBron James will always get the most media attention, but Anthony Davis is the best player on the Lakers. This season, the center has averaged 26.3 points, 12.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting 52.7% from the field. Those numbers, combined with stellar play on defense, have made The Brow one of the game’s elite superstars.
Tonight’s matchup in Philadelphia would be far more challenging with Joel Embiid patrolling the paint. With the former MVP injured, Davis should have a far easier time dominating the glass. The 76ers are already giving up 52.5 rebounds per game to opponents, 13th-most in basketball. 6’8″ starting center Guerschon Yabusele will have his hands full trying to box out AD in this one.
Amen Thompson more than 32.5 points + rebounds + assists
Is 2025 the Year of Amen Thompson? Over a handful of appearances, Houston’s über-talented wing has taken his game to another level. Since January 1st, Thompson has put up 19.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 2.2 steals and 1.2 blocks. Last night’s game-winning shot against the Celtics was the cherry on top of a terrific month.
The 21-year-old’s two-way excellence has made him a fantasy basketball monster. That should continue on Tuesday against a Hawks team giving up the fifth-most points (118.8), fourth-most assists (28.4) and ninth-most rebounds (52.9) to opponents. After having reached this P+R+A total in four of his last five outings, it’s impossible to fade Thompson tonight.
Zaccharie Risacher less than 9.5 points
The Hawks surprised many when they took Zaccharie Risacher first overall during last summer’s NBA Draft. The Frenchman has shown flashes of greatness this season, but it’s been difficult for him to carve out a consistent role. Through 40 games, he’s put up 10.5 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists on 40.0% shooting. Despite starting 38 times, the 19-year-old has averaged just under 24 minutes a night.
Considering the amount of quality wings at his disposal, Atlanta head coach Quin Snyder is flexible with his rotations. That often means riding the hot hand at the end of games, regardless of who starts. Tonight’s opponent, the Rockets, are allowing 106.6 points per game, third-lowest in basketball. Against an elite defense, it’s difficult to envision any rookie catching fire. Risacher’s inconsistent offense makes him a tricky player to back in this spot.
Andrew Wiggins more than 2.5 assists
It’s become apparent that the Warriors aren’t anywhere close to title contenders. At 22-23, Golden State is hoping to make the play-in at this point. That might be difficult without Draymond Green, currently out due to a calf injury. In the veteran’s absence, the Dubs will lean on Andrew Wiggins. The former All-Star has recorded 17.1 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while shooting 44.8% from the field (37.8 3PT%).
Wiggins is only dishing out 2.3 assists per game, but he could act as more of a creator tonight. Golden State’s opponent, the Jazz, are surrendering the fourth-most assists this season (28.4). Without a pass-first forward like Green, Steve Kerr’s offense will need a secondary distributor alongside Steph Curry. Considering how low this total is, Wiggins is a decent pick to dish out some dimes on Tuesday.
Damian Lillard more than 3.5 three-pointers made
Despite a rocky start, the 26-18 Bucks are still an Eastern Conference contender. Milwaukee’s two stars, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard, have carried most of the load on offense this season. For the latter of the two, the 2024-25 campaign has been a return to form. Through 37 games, Dame has averaged 25.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.3 assists.
The eight-time All-Star will get to face his old squad in Portland tonight. This season, the Trail Blazers have struggled defending the perimeter, allowing the fifth-highest three-point percentage (37.3%). Lillard has connected on four or more treys in five of his last seven outings. Back in his old stomping grounds, expect the 34-year-old to deliver a vintage performance.
Buddy Hield more than 2.5 three-pointers made
As previously mentioned, things aren’t great in The Bay right now. A middling Warriors squad has struggled to find consistency over the past two months. A lack of quality options has forced head coach Steve Kerr to shuffle through several good, not great, role players. That includes Buddy Hield, acquired this offseason from the 76ers. The Oklahoma alum offers little other than scoring, but his ability from beyond the arc often comes in handy. This season, the ninth-year pro has produced 12.0 points on 41.3% shooting from the field (37.0 3PT%).
Those numbers, while unspectacular, don’t reflect Hield’s upside. In the right matchup, the sharpshooter can heat up quickly. Tuesday’s opponent, the Jazz, have allowed 14.3 three-pointers per game, fourth-most in basketball. When these two teams last met in October, Hield tallied 27 points and seven three-pointers in just 20 minutes. Another stellar showing from beyond the arc is likelier than not in tonight’s contest.
