Anthony Davis has been publicly critiqued by some fans and media this season, but his numbers have been consistently great. Davis is eighth in the league in scoring with 26.3 points per game and sixth in the league in rebounding with 12.1 rebounds per game. He is also in great form, coming off of a 42-point, 23-rebound performance against the Hornets last time out. Davis is also getting the ball in his hands a lot recently, with 21 or more field-goal attempts in four of his past six games. He now ranks sixth in the NBA in usage percentage and has been efficient in recent weeks as well. That makes him an almost unstoppable force scoring the basketball. He has also continued to dominate the boards, ranking sixth in the NBA in defensive rebounding percentage.
Everyone is struggling to stop Anthony Davis at the moment but with their injuries, the 76ers will have an especially hard time. Joel Embiid, Andre Drummond and Caleb Martin are all out for this game. That leaves Guerschon Yabusele and Justin Edwards to try to defend Anthony Davis, both players who are undersized and underskilled to go head-to-head with Davis. My favorite prop bet for this game is for Davis to go over 39.5 rebounds and assists. Last time out, he cleared this number with just his points while also adding 23 rebounds. Davis is averaging 13.8 rebounds per game in the month of January and he should be the dominant force inside between the two teams. If he just has an average day on the boards, that would require just 26 points to clear this combination number. That is a points total that Davis has easily hit in three of his past four games. With the depleted Philadelphia frontcourt on the other side, the Lakers should feed Davis all game and he should be able to consistently get to the line and get easy points. He should also dominate the boards on both sides of the court, getting himself some easy second-chance points as well.
