I have no idea if Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are ever going to achieve what Tom Brady did with the Patriots, and then the Buccaneers, but Mahomes is obliterating the pace.
Mahomes, who is 29 years old, now has 89 career regular season wins. At that same age, Brady had 70. Mahomes has 17 playoff wins. At 29, Brady had 12. Mahomes is now going to his fifth Super Bowl and looking for his fourth ring. Brady made it to three Super Bowls by 29 and won all three. Brady didn’t win a regular season MVP until he was 30, Mahomes has won it twice.
And now, Mahomes has a chance to get his fourth Super Bowl at the age of 29. I have no idea if he’ll ever get to Brady’s 35 playoff wins and seven Super Bowl rings, but he is on pace to absolutely obliterate the record books.
So, you can be upset about whatever you want. But if you’re not understanding what you’re seeing, then you are blind by anger, jealousy or rage.
Eagles have been NFL’s most consistent team since Week 6
The Eagles have been dominant in time of possession, dominant in yardage differential and absolutely dominant in the way they put up points.
You have to appreciate what Howie Roseman has done over the last couple of years. Then the defense, which was such a liability last year — and then the NFL’s youngest this season — became No. 1 in total and scoring defense in football. That’s a remarkable turnaround. A lot of that has to be credited to defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.
To me, the Eagles have been defined by three things: Roseman’s drafting ability, the ridiculous move by the Giants to let Saquon Barkley to shop himself and the hiring of Fangio. It’s turned into a remarkable formula for success.
Josh Allen’s legacy is not set
Everyone was calling Sunday a Josh Allen legacy game. Your legacy isn’t defined at 28.
Legacy is about the impact you make over a long period of time. So, what did you do your entire career? If Allen retires tomorrow, that was a legacy game. But, he’s going to play another 10 years. Allen has that time to define his legacy.
I like to cite the John Elway example. Elway flipped his entire legacy in the last two years he played. He had gone to three Super Bowls and lost by a large margin in all of them. It got progressively worse, too. Then what happened in his last two years? He won two straight Super Bowls and was a Super Bowl MVP, completely flipping his legacy.
Sunday was in no way, shape or form a legacy game for Allen.
