NBA Best Bets: Rockets at Celtics Best Prop Bets for January 27

After a light Sunday, the NBA is back with a monster 12-game schedule on Monday night. One of those contests will be the defending NBA Champion Boston Celtics hosting the rising Houston Rockets and their former coach Ime Udoka. Coming into the matchup, the Celtics are 32-14 at No. 2 in the Eastern Conference, while the Rockets are 30-14 and No. 2 in the Western Conference. Both teams are known as good defensive units, so it could be a low-scoring game. When the two met in Houston in early January, the Celtics won, 109-86. Let’s take a look at some of the best Rockets and Celtics prop bets for this rematch.

The Celtics are 6.5-point home favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook and the point total is 222. Both teams have relatively clean injury reports, although the Rockets are still without Jabari Smith Jr. (hand). For the Celtics, Derrick White (shin), Sam Hauser (hip), and Al Horford (toe) are questionable, while Cam Whitmore (illness) is the only questionable player for Houston.

Best Prop Bets for Rockets at Celtics on DraftKings Sportsbook

Jalen Green 25+ Points (+155)

Green started 2025 on an absolute scorcher. He had over 25 points in eight straight games starting with his 26-point performance against these Celtics, highlighted by a thunderous throwdown over Luke Kornet.

Last week, Green crashed back to Earth with just 10 points and 19 points in two home games, but seemed to rediscover his scoring touch on Saturday in Cleveland, when he dropped 26 points while leading the Rockets to a road win over the Cavs.

While there’s definitely no guarantee that he will hit the 25-point mark, especially since it’s well above his 21.4 point-per-game average, it’s very attractive odds for something that has become a norm for the fourth-year guard over the last month. If White is out, that would also potentially improve the matchup for him in the backcourt.

Another way to bet on Green having a big night that is a little less high-risk is to take his 30+ Points + Rebounds + Assists line, which comes out at +100.

Kristaps Porzingis over 2.5 three-pointers (+130)

Some of the Celtics numbers are still not posted yet due to White’s uncertainty, but one player prop from the Boston side that’s extremely juicy is this Porzingis three-pointer prop.

In each of his last four home games, Porzingis has hit at least three three-pointers, and he has reached that level in six of his last seven overall. His season average is 2.3 three-pointers per game, but that is influenced by his ramping up with limited minutes earlier this season. He has played at least 27 minutes in eight of his last 10 games, and the extra minutes and opportunities have resulted in him regularly going over this total.

Against the Rockets in their first meeting, Porzingis was returning from a four-game absence and only hit two three-pointers, but I think he’ll fare better at home since he’s been so in rhythm lately.

Amen Thompson over 3.5 assists (+105)

While Jalen Green carries the scoring load for the Rockets, 21-year-old Amen Thompson has been doing a little bit of everything for Houston, as he’s been lights out since moving into the starting lineup just before Christmas. He has started in 12 of his last 13 games, averaging 16.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 1.9 steals, 1.5 blocked shots, and 4.0 assists in 37.8 minutes per game. Where I really like the plus money in Monday’s game is the prop bet on his assist total.

Thompson has gone over this number in seven of his last eight games, including each of his four most recent contests.

In Saturday’s win against the Cavs, he had his first triple-double of the season, handing out 10 assists in 41 minutes. He only has to have under half that many to go over this prop on Monday, and I think he’ll be ready to rise to the challenge in Boston. He did not play in the first game between these teams earlier this month.
