DraftKings Fantasy Football Millionaire Winning Lineup Breakdown: Conference Championships

In the Conference Championship games on Sunday, DraftKings gave DFS fantasy football players a chance to claim a “Crowning Moment” with the NFL $3M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st, TD Throne Eligible]. With both games bringing plenty of fantasy production, the winning entries racked up an impressive 208.24 fantasy points. There were five entries that reached that total and shared this week’s “Crowning Moment.” The entries were from shrek4224, semme017, iliketowin21, aarondp987 and wadmj24.

The winning lineup from those five entries finished more than eight fantasy points clear of the rest of the field of over 141,000 entries. Here’s what it looked like:

Run, Eagles, Run!

In the early game, the winning entries had both Jalen Hurts ($6,500; 33.4 FPTS) and Saquon Barkley ($8,600; 34.2 FPTS). While Barkley was a very popular play at over 87% ownership, he was necessary to win since he went off for 34.2 fantasy points while rushing for 118 yards and three rushing scores. Fading Saquon was definitely not the way to go, and he made that clear with this long touchdown run on his first touch of the game.

Barkley wasn’t the only Eagle to finish with three rushing scores, though, since Hurts matched that total while rushing for 16 yards and passing for 246 yards and another touchdown. Possibly due to concerns about his mobility coming into the game, Hurts’ ownership was under 15%, but he delivered a huge game for those that stuck with him, including these five entries on their way to this week’s “Crowning Moment.”

Hurts passing touchdown went to A.J. Brown ($6,800; 21.6 FPTS), who delivered a strong game at his big salary as the top receiver on the board this week. Brown’s ownership was just over one-third of entries, but he paid off when he got into the end zone on this play.

Since the Eagles piled up 55 points, it isn’t surprising that the high-scoring entries had more options from Philly crammed in their lineups. Dallas Goedert ($4,500; 16.8 FPTS) had 85 receiving yards and 13 rushing yards on seven catches for a strong performance, while the Eagles DST ($3,300; 11 FPTS) forced four turnovers and racked up three sacks.

On the other side of the NFC Championship game, the only player from the Commanders in the winning entries was Zach Ertz ($4,300; 24.4 FPTS). Going with a tight end at the FLEX spot turned out to be a great way to save salary and get plenty of receptions since Ertz hauled in 11 catches for 104 yards against his former team.

Circling the wagons in the AFC Championship

In the later game, the winning entries played three players from the AFC Championship Game between the Bills and Chiefs. The only Chiefs representative was Xavier Worthy ($5,500; 22.1 FPTS), who was very popular and rostered in just over half of lineups. The speedster paid off with a receiving touchdown and just over 100 total yards (85 receiving yards and 16 rushing yards). 

From the Bills’ side, the winning entries went with James Cook ($6,900; 28.4 FPTS) in the backfield, who had two rushing touchdowns, 85 rushing yards and 49 receiving yards in a very strong performance. 

While Cook’s big day definitely pushed these entries to their “Crowning Moment,” he was another very chalky option. To help make the winning lineup stand out, the biggest differentiator was Cook’s teammate, Mack Hollins ($3,300; 16.3 FPTS). Hollins was owned in under 5% of entries but stepped up and delivered 16.3 fantasy points by hauling in three catches for 73 yards and this impressive touchdown:

Hollins’ huge grab and Cook’s big game weren’t quite enough to get the Bills to the Super Bowl, but their big games did just enough to push these entries from shrek4224, semme017, iliketowin21, aarondp987 and wadmj24 to the top of the heap. 

The Bottom Line

The winning entries for Conference Championship Week went against the grain by playing Hurts and found just the right chalky star plays to chase and fade. By going with Mack Hollins in the second game, they found just the right bargain receiver to make the salaries work, and claim this week’s “Crowning Moment.”

The Chiefs and Eagles will be looking for one last “Crowning Moment” of their own as they clash in Super Bowl LIX and DraftKings and DraftKings SportsBook will have plenty of ways to get involved in the action. The main DFS contest is the massive NFL Showdown $5M Super Bowl LIX Millionaire [$1M to 1st] (Super Bowl), which offers a $1M top prize for just a $20 entry.
