The Thunder are rightfully a favorite to win the NBA championship this year. They’re 21-2 in their last 23 games with one of those losses coming without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on the floor. Oklahoma City is also doing this without rising star Chet Holmgren, who is recovering from a hip injury.
Gilgeous-Alexander and company are playing the second leg of a back-to-back after the MVP candidate scored 54 points last night. It was his first 50-point game of his career.
They’ll take that momentum into a rematch against the Mavericks, who defeated the Thunder last week without Gilgeous-Alexander. Oklahoma City is a 13-point favorite and the game total is 222 points on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Below, I have featured my favorite Gilgeous-Alexander prop bets to consider from this contest.
Best Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander over 6.5 assists (+120)
Gilgeous-Alexander poured in 54 points last night, marking his best scoring game of his career. The Thunder guard is a frontrunner for the MVP award this season after finishing second in the voting last year.
He’s a smooth, efficient scorer, but he’s also a great facilitator thanks to the attention he draws when driving to the rim. He averages 6.1 assists per game and has a season-high of 11.
The prop line is set at 6.5 assists tonight and it’s valued at plus money. It’s a great opportunity for bettors to get some extra cash on a reasonable Gilgeous-Alexander line. Many of his prop bets are priced high due to his exuberant stats.
Not only is tonight’s assist line a good deal, Gilgeous-Alexander has hit the mark in three of his last four games. He’s finished with five, 10, eight and nine assists in his past four outings. The five-assist game was last night in the 54-point effort.
Gilgeous-Alexander will likely still score a lot tonight, but replicating a 54-point game is difficult even for the best players. In the other three recent games, he’s scored 27, 40 and 32 while tallying at least eight assists.
Bettors don’t need a low-scoring effort from Gilgeous-Alexander. They just need a normal night, which is an light task for an MVP frontrunner.
