On Tuesday, Tyler Herro (groin) missed his first game of 2024-25. It seems he didn’t like his time in street clothes, as the guard is now listed as probable to return to action on Thursday against the Bucks.
With Herro unavailable versus the Trail Blazers, Terry Rozier stepped into Miami’s starting five, but had a very disappointing showing despite his team-high 26.6% usage rate. Rozier would finish with just nine points and three assists in 21.6 minutes of action. It should be noted that the Heat trailed Portland by 20 points entering the fourth quarter, and head coach Erik Spoelstra chose to not play Rozier, Jimmy Butler or Bam Adebayo for a single second in the final 12 minutes. Butler once again looked quite passive in his Miami-based trade purgatory, though the former All-Star did dish out a eight dimes to lead all Heat players.
Herro should re-establish himself as the team’s No. 1 offensive option on Thursday — that is, if there is a game. Milwaukee’s game on Wednesday was postponed due to snowy conditions in New Orleans and now there are reports that the Bucks’ plane is stuck in Louisiana.
