Best Trae Young prop bets for Hawks vs. Pistons

The Atlanta Hawks begin a three-game homestand tonight against the Detroit Pistons. This will be the second meeting between the clubs after Detroit narrowly won in November.

Trae Young will look for another strong performance this time around on his home court. The 26-year-old is looking to make his fourth All-Star game this year.

The Hawks are three-point favorites in this matchup and are -148 on the moneyline. The game total is set at 234 on DraftKings Sportsbook.

Below, I have featured my favorite Young prop bets to consider from this contest.

Best Trae Young Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook

Trae Young over 13.5 assists + rebounds (-130)

Young is one of the NBA’s most prolific passers. He’s leading the league with 11.7 assists per game, and he’s has averaged at least 10 in three consecutive seasons and at least nine in six straight. He’s a walking double-double, which is hard to come by with points and assists.

Rebounding, however, is not his area of expertise. The 6’1 guard is not a great rebounder nor is he asked to crash the glass often. It’s not Young’s priority to battle with frontcourt players for boards. That said, it may seem odd to include rebounds as the best prop bet for today.

Young averages 3.4 rebounds per game, which would put his assists + rebounds average at 15.1. That’s above 13.5, but Young has only hit the mark in three of the past four games. That could be a reason for the lower line, but tonight’s matchup against the Pistons proves to be a good one.

Young had 35 points, 13 assists and two rebounds in a one-point loss in the two teams’ first matchup in November. Because they both have similar records, it’s fair to believe another close game is in store. That will keep Young on the floor longer, thus giving him more opportunities to hit the over.

The 13.5 line is low enough that Young can realistically surpass the mark with just assists. He’s had 11 games this year with at least 14 assists. Still, he has a good opportunity for rebounds tonight. The Pistons allow 15.9 rebounds per game to opposing starting guards, which ranks 20th in the NBA this season.

Detroit is a solid rebounding team, ranking 11th in rebounds per game and third in opponents rebounding per game. The team is far weaker against opposing starting guards, however. Between this, Young’s assist total and expected minutes, there’s a good chance Young hits the over.
