The Farmers Insurance Open is being held at Torey Pines in La Jolla, California this week. Each golfer of this 156-man field will play a round on both the South Course (par 72, 7,765 yards, POA greens) and the North Course (par 72, 7,258 yards, bentgrass greens) of Torrey Pines and then there will be a top 65 and ties cut, with the players who advance playing the final two rounds on the South Course.
Below, I have featured some finishing position bets to consider for the Farmers Insurance Open.
Max Greyserman Top 20 finish including ties (+120)
Greyserman continues to play some of the best golf of any player on the PGA TOUR. At the American Express this past week, he posted a T7 finish, marking his sixth top-eight finish in his last eight starts. Greyserman has shot under par in 18 straight rounds and the last time he shot even par or worse was back at the BMW Championship in August.
Greyserman missed the cut in his first attempt at a Farmers Insurance Open last season, but this can be ignored, as the 29-year-old is a far more polished player now, sitting 143 spots higher in the World Golf Rankings. Plus, Greyserman presumably wasn’t in an ideal frame of mind at the time, as the following week, he withdrew from the Mexico Open due to personal reasons. Nonetheless, Greyserman is playing incredible golf right now and is a terrific bet for a top 20 at this +120 price on the DraftKings Sportsbook. When we analyze this field’s last 50 rounds, Greyserman ranks second in SGP and sixth in 450-500-yard par four efficiency, setting him up perfectly for the South Course of Torrey Pines. For five years in a row, the winner of the Farmers Insurance Open has finished the event top 11 in both SGP and 450-500-yard par four efficiency.
Trey Mullinax Top 40 finish (+190)
Mullinax is fresh off a T18 at the American Express last week. The bomber closed this event with a six-under 66 and, most importantly, Mullinax was one of only seven players to gain strokes in every major category at the tournament. It’s been nearly two years since he has accomplished this feat and gaining strokes across the board is a very telling sign that Mullinax is finally healthy, after he’s battled hip and head injuries over the last few years.
Mullinax is an extremely talented player who won the Barbasol Championship in 2022 and also finished T9 at the U.S. Open in 2017. The 32-year-old is an elite driver of the golf ball and he has finished T31 or better in two of his last four starts at the Farmers Insurance Open. If Mullinax can in any way replicate his performance from last week at Torrey Pines, he should comfortably finish inside the top 40 at this event he knows well.
